TELLAH DAWKINS recorded her first Song under the name “Princess Tellah” at the Tuff Gong Recording Studio at the age of 18,

Aside from turning heads at Digicel Rising Stars (Season 2) she also went on to impress at MAGNUM KINGS AND QUEENS (2008 ) which landed her a 2 year recording contract.

Add to that, getting certified in COSMOTOLOGY to ensure family and career goals were secure.

TELLAH DAWKINS continued to drop head turning singles like the one which dumped SHYRIC NATION upside down and still does to this day (NOT MY SCARS) .

Her writing has the cabability to reach out and touch the hearts and minds of so many listeners who too identified with the strength needed (and able to be conjured up by a strong human spirit) in the face of personal challenges.

She also is raising 5 happy well adjusted children and still continues to write and voice "head turning BOOOOOOMTASTIC BADNESS" like the new one she walked into the station with not more than yesterday.

A seemingly unstoppable energy and focus radiates from this lady as she sucesfully hangs onto three reigns ( family, a sustainable income and music ) and drives all three onwards and upwards. Now of that's not your definition of sucess we are not sure what is !

We had the priveledge of linking up with the artist recently to ask her a few questions , here's what she has to say :

SHYRICK: There have been several "stops and starts" in your career along the way which couldn't have been easy. Where are you right now with being able to maintain a balance?

TELLAH: I am mother of 5 so I took maternity break quite a few times but am fully focus now on releasing my EP. My youngest child is 5 years old and I am more balanced now, when it comes on to my career. Blessings!

SHYRICK: You have had a few management changes over the span of your career, who is representing you at the moment ?

TELLAH: Yes, 2 management changes so far: Gang Bang Records, Cordell Scatta Burrell and Pryceless Records, Ricky Pryce. I am currently not signed to any record company.

SHYRICK: What advice can you give sistren wanting to rise in this business ?

TELLAH: The advice I can give to sistren wanting to Rise in the business is: pray without ceasing! Where there is prayer there is power. Work none stop as well, even when people think you are not working be the one working behind the scenes.

SHYRICK: To what degree do you feel is the artist's responsibility in maintaining oversight over their management and their career's direction ?

TELLAH: I am fully involved in the directions of my career. As a female artist it's not easy, sometimes management wants you to sing a style or with lyrics which you don't want to do. For me as a mother of 5, with so many nieces, nephews, friends and God-children; I'm only prepared to do uplifting clean music.

SHYRICK: What do your kids think about mum's singing career ?

TELLAH: My children love what I do. My youngest child is involved more than the others, I have to play one of my songs for Jeremiah before he goes to bed... lol!

SHYRICK: What's up ahead for TELLAH DAWKINS ? What can your fans look forward to in the near future?

TELLAH: A wonderful EP coming up with some great music including a few collaborations. One is already done with Capleton called DIVINE LOVE.
