His tenacious "never quit" attitude combined with his ethics for upfull quality music has served ANTHONY JOHN well for over 3 decades. He has enjoyed the spotlight in magazines, on tv and has been interviewed all across the globe.
He also has stood on stages across the world with greats like : Macka B, Prince Malachi, The Sista Band, Empress Ayola, Little Roy, Sylvia Tella, The Amarics, Twinkle Brothers, Action Fire, Lutan Fyah, Earl 16, Luciano, Dennis Alcapone, Michael Prophet and many more.
Even more impressive are some of the labels he has recorded with. He started with Rambo International Sound System alongside Buju Banton, and sat on a lot of riddims at Buju's very own label Gargamel Music. He is also on the : Reality Sound label; Jah Warrior Record label; Studio Star Gate label; and Penthouse Records only to name a few.
His track “Burning Fire Of Love” had even been chosen for a sound track in the movie “Hunter Fire Man”.

SHYRICK: Your recent track HOW COULD YOU on the UPFUL PROJECT by RIDDIM N NICE Productions is getting some rave reviews here with SHYRICK NATION GLOBAL. FATTA ICON has even said a few times, "It is as if the riddim was made for this song," please tell us what inspired you to write this song and marry it to this riddim ?
ANTHONY JOHN: Firstly give thanks to the BOSS MAGAZINE, SHYRICK DANCEHALL RADIO, and to DJ FATTA ICON for the real promotion on the UPFULL PROJECT. The tune HOW COULD YOU is really one of the master pieces on this EP and the melody was inspired by the riddim. The first time I played the riddim things started to happen, you could say the vibes came together. The voice is just another instrument you add to the whole composition. You will hear and feel exactly where and how to place it. Finally the text was inspired by real life issues happening in my circle at the time. She wanted to brake it up and he wanted to make up, (by the way they are still together.) Inspiration comes easy when you are intune to your craft I guess.
SHYRICK: Statistics show that the genre REGGAE only holds 1% of the overall music consumption, what are your ideas why this is so and what do you recommend as actions the community can take to allow for more viable growth and the ability for everyone to eat ?
ANTHONY JOHN: I think its more than 1% , with the musical politics it could easily be another 4% under sabotage, so the community knows exactly what to do and what not to do. There is a greedy mentality and even though "the cake can share for everyone" there are people who want it all for themselves. We should instill quality in the music, and this should be a requirement. Also if we treat it as a business we can only grow to higher heights.
SHYRICK: For the youth growing into some volatile global situations what edification can you offer them so they may trod a safe path?
ANTHONY JOHN: If I respond to this question as a father or as a simple member of society, the views are the same... most youths today are programed by the internet where peer pressure is so profound where hidden agendas are pushed by the tabloids, radio, tv and the so call "roll models." It's very important that we continue to be the examples of who we would like them to be, so while the system teaches them what they want them to learn, we have our part to play.
SHYRICK: Is there more music to come from MR MUSIC in the near future?
ANTHONY JOHN: Mother nature and father time willing, there will be a single entitled LONG WAY coming soon in 2021. It is taken from a soon to be release album on the OLD CAPITAL RECORDS label in FRANCE, also MR MUSIC PRODUCTION along side ALASSANE MUSIC are working on an EP. New music also due from NAPEM RECORDS and surely more to come from RIDDIM N NICE PRODUCTIONS as well. There are other projects but we will not talk about until the time is right !!! I must say one perfect love to one and all that play a part in my musical journey, maximum respect to family, friends, fans and well wishers.
