Spring 2020 dished out yet another hit to the REGGAE community when we lost yet another talented and beloved artist from within the genre. Sadly on May 17 in St. James Parish former HEPTONES member NAGGO MORRIS passed away at 72.
He was one of the founding fathers of the Reggae movement whom all current artists, promoters, producers, and radio stations like SHYRICK owe a debt of gratitude towards. He helped carve out REGGAE as a bonifide musical genre not to be slighted or messed with.
Career: Vocalist with The Royals, The Morwells, The Heptones | Solo Artist | Producer

NAGGO MORRIS will be recognized by most reggae connoisseurs as the individual who way back in 1975 replaced LEROY SIBBLES in the highly popular group the HEPTONES, but MORRIS has had a very sucessful solo career as well. He will be remembered most for his two tracks : SU SU PON RASTA and FLOUR POWER.
NAGGO MORRIS could be found working his solo act on Jamaica’s North Coast tourist scene, appearing at events like Love At Woodstock in Negril.
A few more crucial roots reggae tunes done by Naggo Morris as a solo artists are: “False Rasta”, “Jah Guide”, “Down In The Ghetto”, “Our Homeland”, “Going Places” and “A True You No Know”.
Flour Power (1974) was inspired by cases of people being poisoned by flour contaminated with rat poison in Jamaica. This took the entertainment industry by storm and continues to be a well loved song. Hit the >> GO BUTTON<< and take it for one more spin family>>
