FUSING REGGAE, SOUL AND R&B TO MAKE HER OWN SOUND SHE CALLS "ROOTS SOUL"
Mid August 2020 SHYRICK DANCEHALL RADIO had a "LADIES NIGHT AT THE MIC". The station began shouting out a few weeks prior to all the ladies to get their tracks in for the special presentation. Among many who answered the call was Chez Ford from " PUZZLE PIECE MUSIC PROMOTIONS" with a red hot lady hailing from the UK by the name of MAKEDA SUNSHINE ( formerly known as TESHAY MAKEDA.)
The house was packed at LADIES NIGHT AT THE MIC, the program was visited by several thousand listeners over the 3 hour broadcast where SUNSHINE MAKEDA premiered with her track (off of her EP ) entitled MISSING YOU. Why not hit the >> GO BUTTON<< and take a listen for yourself.
Music was a family thing for SUNSHINE MAKEDA, both her father ( a musician) and mother ( a singer) were actively involved in influencing SUNSHINE MAKEDA. With both parents being Rastafarians as well, Reggae no doubt became second nature to this artist as she grew up.
SUNSHINE MAKEDA was getting regular appearances in her community, in choir and with various bands as she grew up and developed her craft. She admits that looking back Reggae kept her grounded.
Teshay’s inspirations include Bob Marley, Erykah Badu, and Lauryn Hill as well as Chronixx and Janelle Monáe.

Makeda’s single ‘OMG’ debuted in 2019 and was met with great response. Produced by Calvin Bennion A.K.A First Eye & James Shephard who are both active musicians in the UK Reggae Scene. The trio have come together merging and recreating the genre of roots with elements of Soul & RnB along with adding a message of spirituality.

SUNSHINE MAKEDA has performed on major stages in the UK and internationally including the 2018 Rototom Sunsplash Festival in Spain, and the inaugural Cross the Tracks Festival on home turf at Brixton's Brockwell Park in 2019 , Mekudeshet Festival Jerusalem 2019 and Villa Verde Ethiopia 2020.
